Abstract

1344937 Lifeboat or sports craft S NO.YLI 30 June 1971 [7 July 1970] 30659/71 Headings B7A B7M B7S and B7V A boat has an elongate shallow depth hull H which is symmetrically shaped and is of maximum width and depth at its transverse centreline. Flat flush deck 2 has an overhanging part 4 extending outboard of the hull and having a flat underface which substantially defines the normal waterline of the hull which is watertight and substantially unsinkable. Equipment for removably securing auxiliary devices to the hull include a mounting plate 8 fixed to the deck, Fig. 10 (not shown), an internally threaded tubular plug 7 and a fastener screw 9, 10 removably receivable in the plug. The boat may be used as a lifeboat or as a sports craft. It may be propelled by pedals 19 and paddle wheels 20, or airscrew 41, or outboard motor 28 or by rowing facing ahead or astern from seat 11. The boat may have its stability improved by fitting an outrigger float 310, Fig. 11 and trimming assembly 31-34 may be fitted. The embodiment shown also has a spray guard in the form of canvas curtain 320 and rigid breakwater 330, Fig. 11, and may be steered from handlebar 17 or by arm 44 fixed to the standard supporting the airscrew.
