Abstract

1,169,646. Swimming appliances. G. A. GLOVER. 16 Aug., 1968 [23 Aug., 1967], No. 38751/67. Heading A6D. A surfboard comprises a separately moulded and bonded hull, 1, and deck, 2, the hull having a broad portion, 3, for supporting a rider in a prostrate position and having two rearwardly projecting fingers, 4 and 5, for supporting a slidable deck, 6, which carries two vertical plates 14, 15 supporting a rudder 16 and a propulsion unit, 17, which comprises submerged pedals, 22, beneath the deck for driving a propellor, 23, through a gear-box, 24. The rudder, 16, is controlled from handles, 18, near the hand grips, 8, by nylon lines, 19, passing through tubes, 20, bonded to the hull. A vertical observation window, 9, is provided in the hull.
