Abstract

134,480. Higginson, J., and Harrison, H. April 14, 1919. Stop - motions. - Drawing, ribbon-lap, and like machines are provided with means which, when a drawing-roller is displaced owing to the lapping- of a broken sliver or lap, operates the detector of the motion for stopping the machine when a lap is broken or run out. Arms 37 mounted on pivoted rods 31 bear on the weight-hooks of the drawing- rollers, and when either or both ends of any roller is raised operate the detector-guide 13 of the ordinary stop-motion through toggle-levers 41, 42. The detector-guide is mounted on a lever 14, and when operated arrests the motion of a rotary shaft 20, thereby releasing the stop-rod of the machine.
