Abstract

Drilling-machines.-In belt gearing for driving tool spindles of drilling, reaming, tapping, threading, and like cutting machines, the drive pulleys are arranged in line between idler pulleys, a single driving-belt making two half turns around each driven pulley. The driving-shaft 17 drives a number of countershafts 9 through a continuous belt 20 passing over guide pulleys 13, 14, 15 and twin pulleys 12 on the countershafts in the manner shown in Fig. 5, so as to pass around opposite sides of the twin pulleys 12 and thus relieve strain on their bearings. Each pulley 10 on a countershaft 9 drives its tool spindle 1 through a continuous belt 11 passing around twin guide pulleys 8 and a twin pulley 7 on the tool spindle. The spindle 1 and pulleys 7, 8 are carried on a bracket 2 rocking on the shaft 9.
