1342792 Drafting device SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 5 May 1971 [8 May 1970] 13117/71 Heading DID [Also in Division F2] A drafting device comprises a drafting zone containing pairs of porcupine rollers 21-25 arranged so that their pointed projections fit into the gaps between rows of projections on the other rollers and are driven by a backlashfree drive so that the projections remain in this relative position. As shown, the porcupine rollers and the drafting rollers are driven by notched endless belts or chains. The belt tensioning rollers 521, 538, 541 operate stop switches if a blockage of the rollers causes the belt tension to rise. The projections on the rollers can be arranged in straight or helical rows around the rollers.
