Abstract

1341430 Pin and socket removal tool BUNKER RAMO CORP 19 April 1971 [2 March 1970] 24361/71 Heading B4W A tool for pin and socket removal comprises a hollow tubular body member 20 having an interior chamber 25 with an open end, aperture 26, and a closed end, a slide member 40 for travel between an extended and a retracted position, said slide extending through aperture 26 and including a tubular portion 46 beyond said body, said slide having an axial bore 47 therethrough and a plunger member 60 in said bore and bottomed on said closed end. The body member has a longitudinal slot 33 and a transverse J-slot 34, in which a pin 70 attached to the slide member 40 engages. Plunger 60 is removably held in a nylon insert 65 positioned in a plug 28. Springs 80, 85 maintain the slide member 40 relative to plunger 60 so that the plunger projects from portion 46. In operation to remove a socket from a connector, Fig. 6, plunger 60 engages in the socket with portion 46 engaging the socket end. Pushing of the tool then removes the socket from the connector. To remove a pin from a connector, pin 70 is engaged in J-slit 34 so that plunger 60 is retracted in portion 46. The pin can then engage in bore 47 with the portion 46 engaging shoulder 99. Pushing of the tool will then remove the pin from the connector.
