Abstract

1341048 Vehicle washing apparatus G RIES 20 April 1971 [30 Oct 1970] 10119/71 Addition to 1267336 Heading B7J Vehicle washing apparatus comprises a plurality of belts 15 or other washing members, carried on a set of drive members 31, 31a, 31b &c., connected together by universal joints for reciprocating the belts with respect to a support frame 28. Each belt is carried at one end on a guide roller 26 which is journalled on an axle 27 pivotable about a shaft 29, on two rollers 22 at its other end, and on upper and lower rollers 34. All the rollers are vertically deflectable. A motor 16 causes adjacent belts to reciprocate laterally in antiphase via a transmission including the drive members, connecting arms 21 and the rollers 34, see also Fig. 4 (not shown). The belt is of C-shaped cross-section. The drive members 31 &c., are carried by arms 30, 30a &c., extending the length of the belt. Each set of arms may carry either one or two sets of drive members. The rollers 34 may be replaced by slides.
