Abstract

1419476 Endless conveyers for hauling cable or conduit VISSER EN SMIT BV 11 Feb 1974 [15 Feb 1973] 06146/74 Heading B8A A cable X &c. is gripped between opposed runs of two conveyer belts 18, the cross-sectional shape of which is shown shaded in the left hand portion of Fig. 1. The working run of the lower belt is supported in a main frame 1 by rollers 13 (one of which is driven by a motor 15) at each end and intermediate small-diameter rollers (not shown). A similar arrangement of rollers for supporting the upper belt is carried on a frame 2 which is vertically slidable on two pairs of rods 3 and 10. The pair of rods 3 are each pivotally mounted at 4, and the rods 10 are each releasable by a bayonet catch fastening (not shown) from engagement with a socket portion 11 of the lower frame 1. Thus by releasing the rods 10, the frame 2 may be swung away from the lower frame 1 to the position shown in broken lines in Fig. 3. This enables the cable X to be placed in position on the rollers 13, 13. On returning the frame 2 to its operative position, arms 26 rigid with eccentrics 24, 24 at each end of the conveyer are turned through 180 degrees from the position shown in Fig. 3 to a position (Fig. 2, not shown) in which the eccentrics bear on springs 9 and thereby load the upper belt against the cable. A sleeve 27 slides into engagement with both arms 26 so as to lock the latter in the spring- loading position.
