[Class 78 (i)] The conveying surface of an extensible jigging conveyer comprises a steel band which may be rolled up but which is capable of transmitting longitudinal forces. The band is wound flat on the outside of a drum which is driven from a motor and epicyclic gearing housed within the drum, and in unwound condition has a curved cross-section. At intervals along the conveyer are arranged supporting frames comprising a rectangular base frame 27 supported by wheels 28. Two cradles 29, 30, shaped to receive the conveyer band which is clamped to them by clamps 31, are mounted on each supporting frame 27 by links 32, 37 mounted on torsion bar springs 34, 39 on the frame, the cradles being connected to move together by channel members 54. A compressed air vibrating motor 42 is pivoted to the upper end of a bracket 41 and to the cradle 29, while a further bracket 43 on each side of the frame supports a lever arm 44 connected by a link 45 to the cradle 30 and by a link 46 to a link 36 mounted at its lower end on a torque bar 38, so that the link 36 moves in the opposite direction from, and at the same speed as, the cradles 29 and 30. A U-shaped balance weight is slung between the links 36 and a pair of similar links 33. The conveyer band may be wound on the inside, instead of on the outside, on the drum, being taken off in an inclined direction.
