Abstract
1340357 Valves A KNAPP 19 April 1971 [8 April 1970] 24272/71 Heading F2V A mixing valve has a rectilinear manifold 1 provided with a pair of inlet valves each comprising an operating stem 12 threaded in plug 11 which also threadingly engages sleeve 9 threaded to or integral with inlet fitting 7, rotation of the plug 11 thereby serving to clamp shoulders 15, 17 sealingly against the exterior of the manifold. Stem 12 has a closure head 13 cooperable with seat 8 to control flow from the inlet fitting to the manifold. As shown, the manifold is of square external form and is fitted with spout 3 and a diverter 4 for a shower. Packing rings 16, 18 can be omitted or replaced by adhesive. Plug 2 which is normally used with extruded manifolds may be omitted when the manifold is made by drilling a blind axial hole in a solid rod.
