Abstract
1340075 Sanitary closets R McNALLY 19 April 1971 [14 Jan 1970 27 Jan 1971 26 March 1971] 1830/70 3330/71 and 7979/71 Heading E1C Disinfecting and/or de-odorizing fluid is automatically fed to the cavity 13 of a hollow toilet seat by pipes 11 and 12 leading from a container 15 which is either mounted on a bracket 18 externally of the seat or is fitted within a bulge at the back of the seat (Figs. 7, 8, not shown), the container being sealed off from the atmosphere so that pipe 12 acts as an air bleed permitting the fluid to flow into the cavity via the pipe 11 only so long as the inlet nozzle 16 to pipe 12 remains uncovered by the fluid, whereby when the seat is horizontal a predetermined level of fluid is maintained within the cavity, the vapour from which is able to permeate into the atmosphere above the seat via perforations in the upper surface of the seat. When the seat is raised, the nozzle 16 remains obturated by the fluid running to the back of the seat, so that repeated raising and lowering of the seat will not flood the cavity. The container 15 is refillable by providing it with a removable sealed cap. A pinch valve 20 is provided to seal off the pipe 11 while the container is being filled. Alternatively, the whole container may be removable from a holder through which the pipes 11, 12 are led, the container then being provided with a disposable internal container which is closed by a membrane adapted to be punctured upon insertion of the pipes 11, 12 (Fig. 4, not shown). The seat hinge may incorporate removable shims for levelling purposes.
