Abstract

1339920 Electric motor bearings and lubrication SIEMENS AG 12 Jan 1971 [13 Jan 1970] 1541/71 Heading H2A [Also in Division F2] An electric motor has a shaft supported by a self aligning journal bearing 10 which is lubricated by a felt ring 7 which surrounds the bearing bush 3. The ring has portions 9 which pass through the collet 4 which holds the bush in position, and which bear against the shaft to prevent escape of lubricant. The ring portion 9 has a covering 10 of hard plastics material which preserves the shape of the felt and prevents loss and contamination of lubricant. A felt ring 6 is provided on the shaft and collects lubricant which is then thrown by centrifugal force on to the ring 8.
