Abstract

1339862 Image intensifier tubes OPTISCHE INDUSTRIE DE OUDE DELFT NV 24 Jan 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 3306/72 Heading H1D Part of the envelope of an image intensifier tube is deformable to allow the cathode-screen distance to be adjusted. In Fig. 1 the glass support 3 for the screen 4 is mounted in a ring 7 connected by a bellows 8 to a metal envelope portion 9. A threaded ring 12 is secured to one end of the bellows and is engaged by an adjusting nut 13 which may be rotated in order to move the screen axially. In this embodiment a truncated conical electrode 11 is attached to the screen and moves with it; in a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), this electrode is supported from a fixed envelope portion and the screen is supported by a corrugated diaphragm which allows axial movement.
