Abstract
1290530 Clamps F BREMSHEY W FULLING and H BREMSHEY [trading as BREMSHEY & CO] 26 Sept 1969 [28 Sept 1968 17 Oct 1968] 47608/69 Heading E2B A telescopic column, e.g., for a swivel chair as shown, is secured by a conical clamping ring 10 which is axially movable by a lever 25 and a rod 7 between a conical end portion 1' of the inner telescopic tube 1 and the outer telescopic tube 2. The outer tube is carried in a sleeve 3 of a chair support and in turn carries a seat-holder 24 on bracket 26. The telescopic tubes are spaced by spacers 5 and 6 at either end. The inner rod 7 comprises a spring-cartridge, preferably a gas spring-cartridge loading a rod 7' and has an annular groove 12 entraining the clamping ring at inwardly projecting rim 11, Fig. 2. The spring loading forces the ring 10 between the tubes to grip them together. Lugs 13, 14 on this ring enter slots in the inner tube to limit its withdrawal. The clamping ring 10 is of skirt form having a rigid top 17 and a slotted, flexible skirt portion below it. Oil scrapers are provided at top and bottom. The lever is mounted in a snap-on cap 27 on the rod. (For Figures see next page)
