Abstract

1415651 Structural joints REMPLOY Ltd 15 Jan 1973 [31 Dec 1971] 61019/71 Heading F2M A structural joint between a tube 10 and a number of detachable radiating arms 22, e.g. between a tubular support for a swivel chair and a base stand formed by the arms 22, comprises a pair of rings 12, 18, each of which has an annular groove 14, 20, respectively, or alternatively an annular projection, co-operating with corresponding part-annular projections 26, 28, or alternatively recesses, part-annular bracket portions 24 of each of the arms 22, the ring 12 being constrained against axial movement relative to the tube 10, e.g. by welding, while the ring 18 has an internal screwthread engageable with a threaded end portion 16 of the tube 10 so as to clamp the arms 22 when it is screwed on to the end portion 16, the arms being restrained angularly by mutual abutment surfaces 30a, 30b. An outer tube 19 surrounds the tube 10, ring 12 and the constraining spring.
