Abstract
1339625 Sheet feeding RICOH K K 19 April 1971 [14 Feb 1970] 20162/71 Heading G2A [Also in Division B8] In a sheet supply device for a copier one of a plurality of sensors disposed along a path of movement of an original document, or an element moved in synchronism therewith, is actuated by the document or element, after the passage of the document has been detected by a trailing edge sensor to activate a cutter which cuts from a web of copying material, a sheet of a standard length, determined by which of the plurality of sensors was actuated after the trailing edge sensor. The leading edge of the document firstly actuates a microswitch 15 on its feed path causing rollers 12 to advance copy material 11' from a roll 11, the document leading edge then actuating one of microswitches 16A, 16B, 16C, spaced at distances from a cylinder cutter 13, such that the copy material is cut to a standard sheet size, e.g. B4 size, after the trailing edge of the original document has been sensed by a microswitch 14. The document and copy sheet are advanced by an endless belt 5 to the copier 2. In an alternative embodiment, when the original actuates sensor 15 copy material is fed as before and an element (21), Fig. 2 (not shown), magnetically attracted to a continuously rotating carrier (20) is released by a panel (22) for rotation with the carrier, the element actuating one of a plurality of microswitches (26A), (26B), (26C), positioned circumferentially of the carrier after the trailing edge sensor 14 has been actuated.
