Abstract

1337962 Forming containers AQUITAINE TOTAL ORGANICO 26 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 56287/70 Heading B5A Containers comprising two layers of thermoplastics are formed by heating an open mould to above the melting point of the material of the outer layer, filling the mould with powdered thermoplastic material and then removing the unmelted powder, the mould with the outer layer formed thereon then being sprayed electrostatically with the powdered, second thermoplastic material, which melts to form the inner layer. The outer layer is preferably an olefinic polymer, e.g. polyethylene, polystyrene, an acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer, an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene terpolymer or polyvinyl chloride and may be reinforced with glass fibre. The inner layer is preferably a polyamide, preferably nylon-11. Two open containers thus formed may be joined to form a closed container. An insert, e.g. of metal may be placed in the mould before filling, the inserts forming holes for filling, emptying, sampling, &c. or baffle plates.
