Abstract

1337803 Shears WALLACE MFG CORP 29 June 1971 30332/71 Heading B4B A pair of shears comprises a blade 40 pivotally connected to a blade 30, the blade 40 being coupled by a pull rod 70 to an operating member 12 such that as the shears are closed during cutting, the pull rod acts with an upward pulling force relative to the cutting edge 42 of the movable blade 40 for pulling the latter cutting edge against the cutting edge 32 of the blade 30. The pull rod is connected to blade 40 via an extension 64 which is provided with a post 80. The end 74 of the rod is raised by a collar 84 so that as the handles are closed the cutting edge 42 is maintained in contact with the cutting edge 32. The pivot for the blades includes a post 50 secured to the blade 40 and provided with a threaded end for a nut 54 which via'a spring 52 can adjust the pressure on the blade edges.
