Abstract

1337362 Pressure-sensitive transfer sheets COLUMBIA RIBBON & CARBON MFG CO Inc 1 Feb 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 4647/72 Heading D2B A pressure-sensitive transfer sheet comprises a synthetic thermoplastic film at least one surface of which has been roughened by treatment with a volatile solvent for the film so as to be white and semi-opaque, the said surface having thereon a pressure-sensitive oil-containing transfer layer. The latter may be frangible and microporous, corrtaining within its pores the oil and colouring matter, or it may comprise a solid binder, oil, and a solid undissolved hectographic dyestuff. The film may be of cellulose acetate, polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinyl chloride, nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, or chlorinated rubber. A small amount of a soluble synthetic resin may be included in the volatile solvent to produce a more resistant opaque surface on the film. The pressure-sensitive transfer sheet may form part of a duplicating assembly together with a master sheet, which comprises a synthetic thermoplastic film having at least one surface roughened by treatment with a volatile solvent.
