Abstract
1336998 Valves SERVOTOMIC Ltd 15 July 1971 [14 July 1970] 34078/70 Heading F2V [Also in Division F4] A valve V which is designed for use in a central heating installation having a heater H, a number of radiators R and a calorifier C, and which offers two states of operation in one of which states all of the heater output passes to the calorifier and in the other of which a major portion of the output passes to the radiators with the remainder passing to the calorifier, comprises a central inlet port 17 and two aligned outlet ports 15 and 16. Flow between the ports is controlled, manually, by way of a cylindrical valve member 21 having a central bore 22 into which open three lateral passages 24, 25 and 26, passage 26 being relatively smaller than either of the two other lateral passages 24 or 25. In the position of the valve shown, a major proportion of the flow to the inlet 17 passes through the valve member passage 25 and into the outlet port 16, which outlet is connected to the radiators, whilst the remainder of the flow passes through passage 26 and outlet 15 leading to the calorifier C. On turning the valve member through 90 degrees, as determined by stops 30, all the inflow is directed to the outlet port 15 and hence to the calorifier by way of valve member passage 24. In a modification, described but not shown, outlet ports 15 and 16 are arranged at right angles to one another and the valve member is formed only with lateral passage 24 and 26, the manner of operation being the same as above.
