Abstract
1335206 Repairing leaks in pipes; cleaning pipes GRANIT OCH BETON AB 3 Nov 1970 [3 Nov 1969] 52181/70 Headings F2P and F2N A device for internally sealing a pipe leak 2 comprises at least two seals 7, situated in circumferential grooves 8 in a body 5 and radially expandable by fluid pressure, which define a chamber 6 into which sealant is discharged under controlled pressure to plug the leak. Sealant enters the chamber 6 via a hose 16, and channels 14, 17, and air is fed to the seals via hose 13 and channel 12. Fluid pressure in chamber 6 is measured by a sensor 18 connected to a gauge 20. The distance from a service opening to the leak 2 is measured and the device is pulled along the prescribed distance. The alignment of the device is checked by the pressure reading at gauge 20 when air is pumped into chamber 6. If the pressure remains low, the device is correctly aligned. Cleaning fluid may be substituted for sealant for pipe cleaning purposes.
