Abstract

1333785 Two-part couplings FEDERAL PACIFIC ELECTRIC GmbH 29 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 51544/70 Heading H2E A socket connector part comprises a cableconnecting housing 3, e.g. of transparent or translucent plastics, a contact housing 1 and a pressure plate 2 carrying socket contacts (not shown) and terminals (not shown) for connection to the cable conductors, the plate 2 being secured to a projection 6 of the housing 1 by screws 11. The contact housing 1 is formed with a groove 8 into which the cable housing 3 engages and is held in place by screws 14 engaging bushings 13 integral with the housing 3. A cable strain relief device is formed of two halves 15, 17 joined by screws 16, with an elastic insert 18 sealing against the cable under the action of a screw-threaded nipple 19. The socket may be mounted on a wall or appliance. Various size contact housings 1, (i.e. for different current ratings or numbers of conductors may be used with a common size connecting housing 3. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a plug connector with a contact housing (4) complementary to the housing 1 and plug contacts on the plate (2).
