Abstract
1331945 Forging dies DONCASTER MONK BRIDGE Ltd 28 Sept 1971 [5 Oct 1970] 47154/70 Heading B3H A pair of turbine or compressor blade forging dies 10, 12 are each formed with an impression of half the required form of the blade and at least part of the impression is formed in one or more adjustably positioned inserts 14, 16, 18, 20. The inserts are laterally located by wedges 34 and longitudinally located by further wedges (28), Fig. 2 (not shown). The inserts 16, 20 have a recess (24) for the forming of snubbers on the blade. The forged blade is checked after it has cooled down for dimensional accuracy and the inserts are repositioned accordingly by using new spacers or machining the existing spacers. The dies 10, 12 are each formed of several body parts bolted together but they could be solid onepiece bodies.
