Abstract

1330874 Vented seats BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP LTD 23 Nov 1971 [25 Nov 1970] 55948/70 Heading A4H [Also in Division F2, F4J A pair of aircraft seats (12) include respective vent means 19, 20 located in the common arm rest 13 for directing a stream of cool, fresh air to the seat occupant, each vent means such as 19 comprising a cylindrical vent member 21 rotatably mounted in the arm rest 13 and a valve member 27 rotatably mounted relative to member 21 and to the arm rest. Member 21 has an air outlet duct 33 supplied by a gallery 34 opening onto a face 32 at an aperture 35, a further gallery 36 extending from an aperture 37 on face 32 but angularly spaced from aperture 35, and a gallery 38 which connects with a common duct 14. To provide a flow connection between apertures 35, 37 member 27 has a tapered groove 39 see Fig. 4, (not shown) on its face adjacent face 32, and relative rotation between members 21, 27 varies the rate of air flow from duct 33. Rotation of members 21, 27 as a unit varies the direction of air flow from duct 33.
