Abstract

1329467 Easy-open containers AMERICAN CAN CO 11 Sept 1970 [12 Sept 1969] 43526/70 Addition to 1316484 Heading B8D In a modification of the arrangement described in the parent Specification 1,316,484, between a metal can end 10 and a pull tab ring 22 riveted at 20 to a removable score-line defined can end portion 16 to prevent vibration of the pull tab ring and consequential fatigue rupturing of the scoreline, a portion 42 of the inner curled edge 34 of the pull tab ring is deformed by opening up this curled edge portion relative to the remainder so as to contact the can end surface. The outer curled edge 36 of the tab ring terminates in opposed "opened-up" portions 54 on either side of the rivet to contact or nearly contact the can end to prevent lateral vibration of the tab.
