Abstract

1,200,565. Pull tab. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. 1 Nov., 1968 [22 Jan., 1968], No. 51861/68. Heading B8D. A one-piece sheet-metal pull tab 19 for a container tear out panel comprises a tab body 21 with a finger opening 23, the inner and outer edges being turned back on themselves to form homs 27, 28 and the inner unhemmed edge 29 connected through a sloping transitional web 34 to an attachment ear 22 through which the pull tab is secured by a rivet to a tear panel 14, the pull tab being supported by beads 20 formed in the container end. The corners adjacent to the attachment ear 22 are strengthened by a depression 30. To facilitate transfer of the pull tab 19 during manufacture, a carrier strip (not shown) may project from the periphery of the tab and be subsequently severed to form a notch 27a or 27a<SP>1</SP> in the outer hem 27.
