Abstract

1329284 Humidifier; spray producers RESPIRATORY CARE Inc 14 Nov 1970 54291/70 Headings B1R and B2F [Also in Division A5] An inhalation therapy device for use in humidifier or nebulizer assemblies comprises a container 10 having a body 12 containing liquid 16. A first duct 30, integral with the body communicates at its lower end with the interior of the body via the gap 36, the upper end of the duct being at or above the upper surface of the body. A second duct 20 also integral with the body communicates at one end with the interior of the upper part of the body, both ducts being closed by breachable seals 46, 44. The nebulizer disclosed (Fig. 4) comprises an assembly 100 attached to the open end of the duct 30 and includes a venturi tube opening out into a horizontal outlet section 104. Air flows down in the direction of the arrow 56 through the venturi tube and draws liquid into the air stream from the opening 112 from the duct 30. The air and water spray then passes through the outlet 104. The membrane 44 needs to be pierced to allow air from the atmosphere to replace the liquid removed through the duct 30.
