Abstract
1328923 Lactams from cycloalkanone oximes BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 19 April 1971 [27 Jan 1970] 20396/71 Heading C2C In the process for the production of a lactam by Beckmann rearrangement of a cycloalkanone oxime at a temperature of from 210‹ C. to 450‹C. in contact with a fluidized supported catalyst containing boric acid, a liquid whose boiling point is below the rearrangement temperature and is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, unsubstituted or halo and/or nitro-substituted aromatic hydrocarbon, or the desired lactam itself, is introduced into the fluidized catalyst bed together with or separate from the oxime. The hydrocarbon is suitably toluene. Examples describe the preparation of #-caprolactam, methylcaprolactam and capryllactam.
