1530845 Production of caprolactam BAYER AG 13 Sept 1977 [15 Sept 1976] 38105/77 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the production of #-caprolactam by the catalytic rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime in the gaseous phase in a fluidized bed reactor on a catalyst containing boric acid in the presence of an inert gas, wherein the diameter of the non- stationary catalyst-free zones occurring in the fluidized bed reactor is controlled to remain between 5 and 40 cm. The zones may be controlled by vertical tubes installed in the reactor.
