1359668 Production of caprolactam BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 11 Nov 1971 [12 Nov 1970] 52454/71 Addition to 1123805 Heading C2C A process for the production of caprolactam by the catalytic rearrangement of cyclohexanone oxime in contact with a catalyst at elevated temperatures in the presence or absence of an inert gas is characterized in that the gas mixture leaving the reaction chamber is quenched by liquid caprolactam and the caprolactam is condensed from the gas mixture that results in a column equipped with baffles, a liquid mixture of caprolactam and water being supplied to the upper portion of the column. The mixture may be obtained from the depolymerization or extraction of nylon and may contain 40-80% by weight of caprolactam.
