Abstract
1328459 Fluid-pressure servo-motor systems E-SYSTEMS Inc 17 May 1971 [22 May 1970] 15293/71 Heading G3P A piston and cylinder 10 is controlled by a pump 16 having its displacement varied by a movable member coupled to a servo-motor 14 receiving a control signal through an amplifier 12,transducers responsive to the positions of the member and the piston providing feedback signals to the amplifier. The pump has a swash plate adjusted through a gear train from a torque motor and generates a feedback signal by operation of a potentiometer while the piston and cylinder 10 provides a feedback signal through a linear differential transformer. In the preferred embodiment, the piston and cylinder is in the form of a tandem actuator with twin input channels and differential pistons 48, 50. Positive positioning of the actuator is ensured by a pressurised reservoir 64 which maintains a minimum pressure in the system and makes up or absorbs the differences in volume due to the differential pistons when the actuator is displaced, fluid flowing into the reservoir through a shuttle valve 68 and leaving through a check valve 66.
