Abstract

1,178,256. Hydrostatic transmission control. LINDE A.G. 29 Dec., 1966 [31 Dec., 1965], No. 58109/66. Headings F2C and F2D. In a control system for a hydrostatic transmission in a vehicle steered by angular movement of its wheels wherein two variable displacement motor units 8, 9 are interconnected for conjoint identical variation of their displacements, means are provided which permit differential variation of their displacements. In Fig. 1, an engine 3 of a motor vehicle drives a variable displacement pump 5 supplying pressure liquid to parallel variable displacement motors 8, 9 driving the vehicle wheels 2. The pump 5 is controlled by a manually operated valve 12 and follow-up servo-motor 11. The control linkage 10 of the pump 5 is fast with a lever 14 connected through lost motion spring couplings 17 and rods 16 to the motor control means so that the displacements of the pump and both motors are normally varied together. Differential variation of the displacement of the motors is effected by a manually operated lever system 18, 19, 20 acting . directly on the rods 16. The lost motion spring couplings 17 permitting the rods 16 to move relative to cylinders 15. In Fig. 2 (notshown), the differential variation of the motor displacements is effected by selectively supplying pressure liquid to either side of pistons (22) fast with the rods (16) and slidable in cylinders (21) containing the lost motion spring couplings (17a).
