1328039 Knitting machines ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTODNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 24 Nov 1971 [30 Nov 1970] 54687/71 Headings D1C and D1K In an, e.g. multifeed, superposed cylinder knitting machine, the sinker rings 5 1 , 5 2 comprise respectively inner and outer rings 6 1 ,, 7 1 ; 6 2 , 7 2 connected by ribs B 1 , 8 2 between which there are grooves with openings 10 between the rings which guide the selecting butts 11a, 12a of sinkers or auxiliary sinkers 11, 12. Butts 12a are guided between fixed rings 13, 14 connected to the carrier sleev 16 of the upper needle cylinder 1. Butts 11a are controlled by cams 18, 19 connected to the carrier sleeve of the lower needle cylinder 2. Butts 11a are also controlled by spring-biassed axially movable cams 23. Similar cams can be provided in the upper cylinder. The movement of the sinkers can be used during the one feed reciprocatory knitting of heels and for the formation of plush loops in the sole, some butts 12a being longer than others so that plush loops may be laid over these sinkers. The sinkers may also be used during the formation of a welt or suitably controlled to produce ladder stop courses.
