Abstract

1327548 Transistor switching circuits METRAWATT GmbH 27 Jan 1972 [27 Jan 1971] 3830/72 Heading H3T [Also in Division H2] A circuit for monitoring a reversable direct voltage and producing an output when a predetermined threshold is exceeded comprises: an input resistance R M across which the voltage is developed; a first transistor T1 with its emitter connected to one end of R M and its base connected to the other; a second transistor T2 with its base connected to the one end of R M and its emitter connected to the other; and a resistive load circuit R a connected from the collectors to a supply source V. As used in a measuring instrument, an excessive measured voltage of either polarity causes either T1 or T2 to conduct and produce, across Ra, a voltage which after amplification actuates a relay S to disconnect the supply to R M . In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the transistors T1, T2 have separate load resistors which are individually coupled to the relay operating transistor (T8). The threshold may be modified by including threshold elements such as Zener diodes in the base leads of T1, T2.
