Abstract

1327302 Coupling members PLESSEY CO Ltd 27 Jan 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 4977/71 Heading H2E A flat cable connector comprises a block of insulating material 5, a cover-plate 6, and a terminal tag 7 with respect to each cableway 2 which is suitably bared for electrical connection at 4. The block has a seating 11 for each connector tag 7, and a hole 10 such that the holes 10 are disposed alternately on either side of the seating recess 11. The tags 7 are L-shaped and portion 25 forms the soldered or spot welded contact with the way 4. The cover-plate 6 is flat, but has a bulbous flange 18 which abuts rear surface of block 5 and bearing surfaces 19, to engage the block; further interlocking means, namely locating studs 9 and locating holes 21 are provided on the block and plate respectively. The cable 1 is inserted through cover-plate recess 23 and connected to the tags over the area 25. The assembly may be secured together by an adhesive and holes 8 and 20 are provided for external mounting.
