1326876 Grippers for lifting drums J ARBOUW 25 Jan 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 3367/72 Heading B8H A hoisting gripper for use in hoisting a chimed drum 2 which comprises upper and lower arms 4, 5 having lower and upper gripping jaws 10, 13 respectively is characterized by a locking catch 15 which when the arm 4 is connected to a hoisting member (not shown) at point of application 8 and the arm 4 raised from the full line position shown to the dashed line position, the locking catch 15, under the influence of a tension spring 16 connected thereto, will spring with its locking face 17 behind the corresponding face 18 of the lower arm. At the same time a chime 3 on the drum 2 is gripped by the gripping jaws 10, 13.
