Abstract

1325616 Boots &c J F DYMOND 13 May 1971 14819/71 Heading A3B An article of footwear, e.g. a sports shoe, has a sole portion 31 which is rotatable about an axis extending generally perpendicularly to the sole, the portion 31 being secured by component(s) 29 engaging a circular groove in the sole, or a base 27 attached thereto, the groove being concentric with the axis. In a first embodiment a ring 29 is secured to the portion 31 by screws 30 and the ring is engaged in the groove. In a modification (not shown) the ring is of T-shaped cross-section. In a second embodiment (not shown) the portion 31 is provided with a plurality of balls which are engaged in the groove. In all the embodiments the portion 31 may be provided with studs 12, or spikes or ribs (not shown).
