Abstract

1325265 Securing windscreens and fixed lights in frames REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 19 April 1971 [10 April 1970] 25251/71 Heading E1R In securing a fixed light such as a windscreen in its frame by means of a glazing strip J having embedded therein an electrical heating wire, and the strip being preheated to soften prior to pressing the light thereon and then heated to cure the strip and cause it to adhere to the windscreen and frame, a movable cabinet C moves in unison along the assembly line with the car, and is connected to electric power supply means and contains a voltage regulating apparatus R to maintain a constant current intensity in the wire J, irrespective of the wire length and a data processing unit T to control the heating operation of the strip, the unit T comprising members issuing instantaneous orders and delayed action orders for controlling in succession preheating control circuits and cure-heating control circuits to ensure the energisation of the wire during two different time periods, the unit T also comprising first means to control the current in said wire and second means R to control the voltage across the terminal of the wire. As the cabinet C moves forward along the assembly line rail GF, the power is connected, and is disconnected as the cabinet is on its return journey rail GR and a "make contact" press button 11 in a control box B initiates the operation of the unit T and current and voltage limit detectors 15, 16.
