1324883 Welding rod flux coating ROSTOVSKY -NA-DONU NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT TEKHNOLOGII MASHINOSTROENIA 24 Oct 1970 50644/70 Heading C7M A flux used for extrusion coating welding rods contains a flux, a metal or alloy filler, a binder and a marine organism of the plankton class preferably of the genus MEDUSAE as a plasticizer. The organism is preferably de-hydrated and 0À02- 1À5 wt. per cent is added either as an aqueous alkali solution containing 0À01-4À5 wt. per cent alkali such as NaOH, KOH or Na 2 CO 3 or as a solid mixture with the alkali in a wt. ratio alkali plasticizer of 0À1-0À95. The fluxes used may be marble, fluorspar, feldspar, rutile, magnesite, quartz, mica, haematite, Ti concentrate, fillers such as FeMn, FeSi, FeTi, FeCr, FeV, Cr, Ti, Al, SiCa, SiCr, and a sodium silicate binder.
