Abstract
1324880 Electromagnetic switches ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 15 Dec 1970 [16 Dec 1969] 59468/70 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] A high speed D.C. switching device comprises a movable contact 2 biased in the opening direction by a spring 6, but normally held closed by a holding magnet 4 which has a permanent magnet to provide the holding force and a releasing coil 5 connected to an energy accumulator, e.g. a capacitor 7, via an electronic switching member, e.g. a thyristor 8, which is controlled by means 10 responsive to the magnitude of the current in a circuit 1 reaching a predetermined level and/or means 9 responsive to the rate of rise of the current. The means 9 is a current transformer having a core which does not saturate within its desired range of operation. The means 10 comprises an iron core arranged around the circuit conductor 1 and having an air gap with one or more reed relay units in the vicinity of the gap. Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) illustrate circuit arrangements for the control device 12.
