Abstract

1,035,523. Electromagnetic relays. C. P. CLARE & CO. Jan. 15, 1963 [Jan. 31, 1962], No. 1778/63. Heading H2B. An operating winding 26 surrounds a normally open sealed magnetic contact unit 16 and a normally closed sealed magnetic contact unit 18, the units being biased by permanent magnets 20, 22 of opposite polarity. The magnets are secured to the respective units by epoxy resin 40 and flux return members 30 are provided between insulaing layers 38, 30 surrounding the winding. The strength of the permanent magnets is adjusted during manufacture either so that the normally open unit 16 closes before the other unit opens; or the normally open unit closes after the other unit opens. The terminals of the relay are connected to a printed circuit board. The relay may function as a synchronous interrupter.
