1324678 Transistor gain control circuits STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 29 June 1972 30410/72 Heading H3T In a semi-conductor amplifier 1 in which the amplification is controlled by variation of a control signal, applied to terminals 7, 8, a variable signal is produced by variation of a resistor 11 coupled to the power supply input 9, 10 of the amplifier and is applied to the input of a semi-conductor circuit, i.e. comprising transistors 16, 33, which produces the control signal in response thereto, the semi-conductor circuit being arranged to produce an output signal, at terminals 7, 8 whose variation makes the ratio of the amplification change to resistance change substantially constant. In the embodiment, the arrangement is stabilized by means of Zener diode 24 while a diode 15 provides for temperature compensation: a pre-settable resistor 18 enables the emitter voltage of transistor 16 to be set appropriately.
