Abstract
951,342. Transistor amplifying circuits. S. SMITH & SONS (ENGLAND) Ltd. Oct. 12, 1962 [Oct. 17, 1961], No. 37277/61. Heading H3T. In a two-stage transistor amplifier in which the base bias for the second, output; stage is derived from the output of the first stage, temperature compensation of the output stage is achieved by mounting the transistors of the two stages on a common head sink and by so arranging the parameters of the first stage that the changes in bias voltage at the output stage resulting from variations in temperature are such as to compensate the corresponding changes of collector current in the output stage. In the circuit shown, resistor 13 is so chosen that the bias variations applied to the base of output transistor 21 via emitter-follower 20 due to the temperature sensitivity of first-stage transistor 9 are such as to compensate changes in collector current in transistor 21 with temperature.
