Abstract

1324408 Actuator for pressurized fluid dispenser E H GREEN 15 July 1970 34228/70 Heading F1R An actuator overcap, for a pressurized dispensing container having an axially reciprocable valve stem 32, comprises a hollow generally cylindrical body 58 with a push button 78, in the centre of top wall 74, having a passageway 90 for alignment with the valve stem and adapted at its lower end 92 to co-operate with the stem, and having a laterally opening socket 86 in communication with the passageway 90, with a conduit member 96, formed independently of the body and push-button, having one end engaged in the socket 86 and the other end mounted in the side wall of the overcap body. The button 78 is moulded integrally with the body, being connected to it by frangible webs 82 which are broken when the device is used for the first time, being then held solely by the member 96 which is resilient. The overcap may be snap-fitted over a container, and when the button is depressed so as to depress the valve stem fluid from the container is dispensed through the conduit member, which may have a nozzle or metering orifice 122; after use any residual fluid may collect inside the overcap. The webs 82 also serve the purpose in manufacture of aligning the socket 86 with opening 98 in the overcap side wall for introduction of the conduit member.
