Abstract

1323560 Brake master cylinders GIRLING Ltd 1 Oct 1971 [3 Oct 1970] 47124/70 Addition to 1229926 Heading F2F In an improvement in or modification of the master cylinder of Specification 1,229,926 the one-way valve comprises a rigid valve member, in the form of a plate 27, movable through a limited axial distance to permit fluid flow through at least one of openings 25 in a flange 18 of the first piston and an orifice 31 in the plate 27 permits a metered flow of fluid past the first piston in the opposite direction, when the one-way valve is closed, through an opening 26 of reduced diameter. Relative rotation between the flange 18 and the valve member 27 is prevented by an axial extension 29 of the plate being slidably received in an opening 30 in an abutment 28 integral with an extension 6 of the main piston. In a modification Fig. 4 orifice 31 in the valve plate 27 is omitted and the opening containing orifice 26 is disposed radially outwards from the peripheral edge of plate 27. Other modifications of the one-way valve are also described.
