Abstract

1321966 Reciprocating pumps SUNBEAM CORP 11 April 1972 [10 May 1971] 16687/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division D1] A single acting reciprocating manuallyoperated pump for a steam and spray iron (see Division D1) comprises a piston rod 43 depression of which actuates the pump and rotation of which selectively directs the output to a conduit 62 or 65. The piston rod has a flat 55 near the bottom passing through a congruent opening in the top 57 of the rotatable pump cylinder 46, for rotating the cylinder. The nose of the cylinder 46 has an opening 52 which is selectively aligned with an opening 64 or (68) in a seal 61 and hence with the conduit 62 or 65. Conduit 62 leads to a spray nozzle, Fig. 2 (not shown). Rotation of the seal 61 is prevented by a pin (71) Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) and a detent ball 75 is provided to ensure the correct alignment of the opening 52. The pump is mounted in a reservoir (20), Fig. 1 (not shown), and has an inlet ball valve 38 and a filter 36. The pump piston 45 is of P.T.F.E, and has spring fingers 73b biasing it into contact with the cylinder wall.
