Abstract

1537004 Reciprocating pumps AFA CORP 7 Feb 1977 [9 Feb 1976 7 June 1976] 05019/77 Heading F1A A hand-actuated, container-mounted spray pump has a container-venting passage 33, 34 opening into the pump cylinder 11 and controlled by the piston 25 so as to be closed from the atmosphere when the piston is in its rest position shown, and open when the piston is moved on its pumping stroke. The piston may have one or two seals 30, 31 either mounted on or formed integrally with the piston, Fig. 2 (not shown). Liquid enters cylinder 11 via check-valve 18 and is discharged via nozzle assembly 35 which functions as a check-valve. Leakage past the piston returns to the container through the vent passage.
