Abstract

1448615 Reciprocating pumps T TADA 19 Sept 1974 [12 Feb 1974] 40885/74 Heading F1A A spray pump comprises a spring-loaded piston 13 with a through passage 43, 44 leading to a spray nozzle 46 and controlled by a spring-loaded checkvalve 47b, the piston being moved on its delivery stroke in a cylinder 12 by a lever 15 which is lockable by a catch 33 with the piston in its innermost position, an inlet check-valve 57 being held in its closed position by the piston and also closing the piston passage opening 51 to prevent leakage. Valve 57 comprises a closure member 57c connected to a mounting ring 57a by flexible arms 57b. Catch 33 is integrally hinged to the pump body at 33a and has a portion 33d for engaging a lever projection 34, Fig. 2 (not shown), a portion 33c for closing a vent 58, and a recess 33b which engages a body projection 59 when the catch is inoperative. The pump body is secured to a container 10 by a threaded collar 23, a sealing member 25 being provided. Piston valve stem 47 has a swirl portion 47a.
