Abstract

1321772 Ice-cream vehicle MORRISON INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 April 1971 9116/71 Heading B7H In a soft ice cream vehicle the engine 10 which propels the vehicle is governed to drive at a preset fixed speed via a drive-shaft 12, a refrigerator compressor 14 and an ice-cream beater 16, and clutches 26, 56, 65 which may be magnetic are provided between the engine 10 and the drive shaft 12 and between the drive shaft and the compressor 14 and beater 16 respectively. Resiliently mounted compressor 14 is pivotally adjusted on the vehicle chassis by adjuster 58. A compressor fan 46 is directly driven by the compressor drive. The rotation of shaft 36 is reversed and its speed reduced by means of clutch 65 and gear-box 66 having an adjustable torque arm 67 and applied via shaft 68 to beater 16 which has a torque switch 76 for automatically disengaging clutches 56, 65 when the ice cream is of the required consistency. Switch 86 has two positions for operation of the beater and/or compressor. Push button 80 on the vehicle instrument panel effects drive to shaft 12 when the gear lever is in the neutral position as indicated by micro switches 82, 84. Switch 89 disconnects clutch 26 before the vehicle is about to be driven and a solenoid 92 is activated to raise the speed of the engine which, if a diesel, may be governed by an air injector pump governor 94.
