Abstract

1321250 Gripping tools E R HARRISON 23 Dec 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 47634/70 Heading B4W [Also in Division B8] A lifting tool e.g. for lifting a post out of the ground comprises a pair of opposed gripping members 4 pivotally mounted on respective arms of a yoke 6, a shaft 8 extending from the yoke 6 and wheels 12 for pivotably supporting the shaft about a transverse horizontal axis so that pivotal movement of the shaft can cause upward or downward movement of the yoke, the gripping members being arranged to grip a post therebetween on upward movement and to allow passage of the post on downward movement. The gripping members may have serrated teeth or spikes or may be rubber covered to improve the grip or may be shaped to suit the article to be lifted. The axle 10 is adjustable along the shaft 8 to allow for adjustment of the leverage.
